Kyle, a College of Letters and Science student from Bishop, California, is starting his second year at Montana State. He is a snow and environmental sciences major who dreams of becoming a conservation scientist, understanding and protecting Earth’s glaciers and snowpacks.

“Bozeman immediately felt like home to me, and I am incredibly grateful for [the scholarship support] to continue my education. I am excited to learn as much as I can both in and out of the classroom and continue developing as an individual,” Kyle said.

The College of Letters and Science's Dean’s Excellence Fund can help students like Kyle when they need resources to pursue their dreams or when they face struggles or challenges. Kyle is grateful for the support he has received from donors like you. Thanks to our caring community of supporters, Kyle is able to make the most of his education and opportunities at MSU. He was selected as a member of the Baucus Leaders Class of 2024, a program of the Max S. Baucus Institute designed to give college students experience in public service and legislative affairs. The members were stationed in various parts of the world for internships focusing on legislation and climate policies.

Kyle spent his summer internship working remotely for The Climate Initiative, which is based in Maine. He wrote and revised learning labs and online lesson plans about various environmental topics for high school students.

“I enjoyed working with people who are inspired and knowledgeable about climate and teaching it to others,” Kyle said. “I’m really stoked to help spread this info that I learned in high school and at MSU to high schoolers because I think it’s really important.”

He is thankful for alumni and friends who want to stay connected to today’s students and make a difference for them.

“The past year at MSU was full of discoveries and growth, and I am excited to see what this year holds. Thank you so much for the funds that have helped me pursue my education and continue studying in the beautiful state of Montana,” Kyle said.
