Meet Amanda...
Amanda, from Corvallis, Montana, is starting her fourth year at Montana State. She
started out in microbiology and switched to pre-nursing last year. She has always been
fascinated by the study of human biology.
“I pursued [my interest in human biology and microbiology] throughout my high school
education and through an internship with the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious
Diseases in Hamilton, MT, over the summer. After realizing how important it was to me to
care for my patients on a personal and holistic level, I decided to change directions. I am
excited to use my passion for serving others and my interests in living systems in a career
as a nurse, and hopefully someday as a nurse-midwife,” Amanda said.
The Dean’s Excellence Fund can help students like Amanda when
they need resources to pursue their dreams or when they face struggles or challenges. But
those funds only exist if donors like you give. Your gift, of any amount, makes a difference
for our nursing students.
Amanda is grateful for the support she has received from donors like you. Thanks
to our caring community of supporters, Amanda is able to make the most of her education
and opportunities at MSU. She has participated in the Medical Laboratory Science Club,
Collegiate 4-H, campus ministry and an MSU exchange program at the University of
Wollongong in Australia. She also served as vice president of the MSU Science Olympiad Student Club, helping to organize the 2024 state tournament, one of the state’s largest
STEM competitions, with middle and high school students participating in events related to
life sciences, chemistry, engineering and more.
“All of these experiences have enhanced my college experience, given me opportunities
to serve others, and have brought me closer to my community,” Amanda explained.
She is thankful for alumni and friends who want to stay connected to today’s
students and make a difference for them.
“I want to thank you for your support,” Amanda said. “Your generosity allows me and other
students to continue our education while participating in the many opportunities MSU and
the Bozeman community have to offer. Your generosity is truly inspiring.”
The impact of your gift.
As the state’s public land-grant university, MSU relies on private financial support to advance its mission by sustaining and growing educational opportunities. By contributing to the Dean’s Excellence Fund, you open the door to expanded experiences for students, including opportunities to conduct research, attend an academic conference, participate in outreach, take on leadership roles in student activities or apply their knowledge and creativity to a project.
