About the Track & Field Addition to the Indoor Practice Facility Project
A new indoor practice space for MSU student-athletes is underway. The facility will provide Bobcats of all field sports the ability to practice and train year-round in our Montana climate.
MSU Track & Field is seeking to raise $10 million to cover the cost of adding a 300-meter track and capacity for all field event venues to the Indoor Practice Facility project. An incredibly generous donor has committed to covering the majority of that $10 million. In order to push this project over the top, we need gifts and pledges to make this invaluable resource a reality for our student-athletes and the greater Gallatin County track and field community.
The addition of an indoor track:
- Provides year-round practice availability and alleviates scheduling conflicts in the Fieldhouse
- Cuts operational expenses with fewer facility event turnovers in the Fieldhouse
- Enables student-athletes to train at higher levels and reduces the potential for injury with 300-meter track distance and increased turn radius
- Enhances recruiting efforts given that training in challenging weather conditions can sometimes be a deterrent in the recruiting process
- Positions MSU with training facilities on par with universities in the Intermountain and West Coast regions
- Provides Gallatin Valley community with access/availability to an indoor track
